Anxiety, Depression - best way to manage.

I felt compelled to write a blog about anxiety & depression. During these uncertain times, anxiety and depression can be extremely overwhelming and/or difficult to manage. The number one thing you must do if you are exhibiting symptoms of anxiety and/or depression is to consult with your family physician to ensure that there is nothing else going on with your health. Here are several ways these symptoms can be managed:

1) Meditation: If one feels overwhelmed and/or anxious, find a quiet area where you can close your eyes for a few minutes and focus on your breathing. Inhale from your nose and exhale from your mouth. Do this for approximately 5 mins. If your mind wanders, just return your focus to your breathe.

2) Reiki Treatment: Reiki is an ancient method of therapy which helps to rebalance your energetic fields thus promoting relaxation and calmness within your body. There have been studies done with groups of individuals receiving Reiki treatments and those that did not. Of the group that received Reiki treatment, a significant change within their anxiety level occurred after receiving treatment. The group was much more relaxed and less stressed.

3) Walking within Nature: If you are able too, go outside within the trees, waters, parks and/or forest trails, and simply walk outdoors. Nature has a way of calming us and also rejuvenating us. Take your time and observe the animals, the trees and look up at the sky. Nature gives us signs everywhere. Explore your nearest nature trails. You will be amazed on how energized you will feel upon returning from walking within Nature.

4) Take a relaxing Bath: If you enjoy your baths, this is an ideal way of relaxing. Set the stage for a relaxing bath by adding scented bath salts, such as lavender, light some candles and play soft music, and most of all, tell your family that you do not want to be disturbed for the next 30 mins.
