Why Essential Oils

Essential Oils are extremely beneficial in your day-to-day routine. Essential Oils can be used within your home, in your office and in cooking. Pending your environment, there are several ways to use essential oils.

Diffusing them within your environment is very aromatic. The aroma of the oil can be uplifting, calming, and relaxing. For example, if you are looking for an uplifting aroma, then you would choose a citrus-based oil such as Wild Orange, Lemon, Grapefruit or Citrus Bliss.

You can use the oils topically as well. Perhaps you are having a stressful day and you want to calm your system down, then I would suggest you place one drop of Lavender or Copaiba in your non-dominant hand, rub them together and then cup them and place them over your nose and inhale the most relaxing and beautiful aroma. Within minutes you will feel yourself relaxed and be able to go on with your day. Another way is to add two drops of Balance in your hands, rub them together and spread them over the bottoms of your feet. This will keep you grounded and balanced throughout your day.

Mix the essential oil of your choice in a 10ml Roller Bottle and add the carrier oil of your choice. The carrier oil is important as it dilutes the oil as some can cause extensive reactions on your skin. We call these Hot Oils. Examples are Oregano and Cinnamon. It is recommended that you use a 5% dilution to start which is 15 drops of your essential oil and top up with your carrier oil which can be Fractionated Coconut Oil, Almond Oil, Grape Seed Oil or Avocado Oil. It is never recommended to use vegetable oil. The purer your oil the better blend you will create.

The final way is using certain Essential Oils in cooking. The Essential Oils you use must be a Therapeutic Grade essential oil. Essential Oils give your cooking a fabulous flavour; the beauty is that you need less than the fresh herb itself. For example, if you are in need of Basil for a recipe however you do not have any at home but have the Therapeutic Grade oil, simply start by adding two drops to your recipe then go by taste. It makes cooking so much simpler.

Essential Oils are widely available. Companies like doTerra, Young Living, Now, Eden's Garden and Plant Therapy are all reputable companies. The key to finding the Essential Oil that works for you is by doing your homework. Go to your local Health Food Store or talk to someone who is educated with Essential Oils such as an Aromatherapist. Once you have found the brand you like, experiment with several oils.
